There are four reasons why European students should study in the United States

Are you an incoming university student from Europe? If you’re still considering your options, don’t rule out the possibility of studying in the United States. When you have cheaper or tuition-free choices in Europe, crossing the Atlantic for your degree may seem like a more expensive option, but the value of an American education cannot be overstated. After all, there has to be a reason why the United States continues to top the list of international students’ favourite study locations.

Studying in the United States is far more feasible than you may expect, thanks to a plethora of scholarships, prizes, and financial aid accessible to international students. Consider it an adventure in which you will learn in a new academic system and live and work in a different society.

If you still need more persuading, consider the following four reasons to study in the United States:

Reason 1: High-ranking universities

Harvard and Yale are two of the best universities in the country. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a public research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It goes without saying that American universities are synonymous with academic brilliance on a global scale. In reality, America is home to eight of the world’s top ten institutions, not to mention the several additional universities further down the list that are equally impressive. Public Ivies, which are public colleges with the same academic standards as Ivy League schools, are a less expensive option to explore. While there are great colleges in Europe that are comparable to these institutions, the Ivy League’s reputation is undeniable, which is why alumni may make more than twice as much as other college grads.

Reason 2: World-class research and development facilities

Of course, the greatest colleges in the world are known for their excellent teaching and cutting-edge facilities. The first successful human organ transplant and radiocarbon dating were both pioneered by colleges in the United States. A large part of this has to do with the endowments that American colleges get, which may run into the billions of dollars per university. This is fantastic news for overseas students because the funds’ interest helps to provide financing, grants, and scholarships.

Reason 3 :Academic flexibility.

Getting a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in gay literature may seem unusual in some places, but not at American colleges. One of the most compelling reasons for students to study abroad in the United States is the academic structure’s flexibility. In the United States, the liberal arts system stresses both breadth and depth in education, allowing students to tailor their education to their specific interests and aims. In comparison, European colleges may provide greater depth than breadth. If you’re fresh out of high school, taking a few different classes as a freshman can help you make better selections about your studies. Plus, you get to study things that you would not have tried if you followed a prescribed curriculum like those found at European colleges.

Reason 4: Possibilities for hands-on learning

Outside of the classroom, American institutions provide a plethora of internships, research opportunities, and postdoctoral fellowships to help you further your career. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) Program allows students studying in the United States to work in the United States after graduation. You can work for up to 24 months after finishing your studies if you’re a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) student. This gives you the opportunity to participate in industrial training at some of the world’s most prestigious firms and research institutes, which will undoubtedly enhance your CV.
