Every year, thousands of students graduate from high school and begin a new adventure known as higher education. Some students choose to attend local institutions, while others prefer to study abroad at universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany to get a worldwide perspective. So, let’s look at why studying abroad can be the best option for a promising future.

Global recognition and advancement in your profession

Companies often favor applicants with foreign university degrees; nevertheless, they also want people who are flexible, open-minded, culturally aware, and easily adaptable to the work environment. And international education equips students with all of these qualities.

Work in a foreign country

Furthermore, students who study abroad have the possibility to work there. This broadens their professional horizons. When they return to India, they will have a better package and more appropriate career options.

Subject selection

Institutions in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany provide cutting-edge technology courses, which Indian universities are slowly embracing. As a result, studying abroad allows students to learn and investigate new disciplines such as robotics, allowing them to get a head start on their future. Universities also provide academic flexibility by allowing students to select between a ‘dual major,’ a’minor,’ and ‘free electives,’ which refers to studying more than one topic.

Development as a whole

Until recently, the Indian educational system has concentrated on earning more scores rather than higher grades, putting a lot of pressure on students and leading to a mugging culture. Furthermore, the educational structure here lacks critical and logical thinking, which reduces the importance of reasoning. Furthermore, the pressure and theoretical approach frequently cause students to overlook their overall growth, such as their extracurricular hobbies.

The bottom line is that studying abroad is a life-changing experience as well as an educational opportunity. Studying abroad provides students with the chance and platform to develop their abilities holistically, manage their time between classes and other activities such as internships or part-time employment, and groom themselves among a cosmopolitan population and individuals from many cultures.

India is the UK’s second-largest international market, with over 50,000 Indian students residing here, and this figure is expanding. Computer science, engineering, medicine, and law are all popular disciplines in India, but the majority of Indian students study business in the UK, which is my area of expertise.

In general, there are three types of master’s business programmes available in the United Kingdom. There are three types of extension programmes: conversion, extension, and professional extension. Qualifications are required for admission to each type of programme, and the programme you choose depends on your employment goals after graduation.

A path to a career in business

Students with any undergraduate background can use the abilities they’ve learnt in other professions with conversion degrees. Many students have brains the size of planets but are unable to show employers that they are interested in business and possess the necessary business abilities to propel companies ahead. Graduates with a conversion degree can exhibit both. Around 60% of students on our conversion degrees at my university come from non-business backgrounds, with the rest holding a business undergraduate degree. The MBA is the “original” conversion business degree, although just 6% of Indian business students in the UK take it. The most popular topic selections at Dundee are conversion degrees in International Business, Management, International Marketing, and International Banking and Finance. It’s critical that the conversion programme you pick includes a variety of taught skills and comprehension modules, as well as a brief, concentrated project report or dissertation. This is because if you don’t have a business background when you start your conversion degree, you’ll need these taught courses to learn enough business skills to be effective after graduation. The programme should also place a strong emphasis on employability, with an internship option embedded into the curriculum. Even better if the internships are available in a variety of nations throughout the world so you can have a better grasp of how to do business across national borders and in diverse business cultures. All of this will be quite valuable in your professional business life.

Increasing your earning potential

Extension programmes are available to students who have completed a relevant undergraduate degree and are pursuing a master’s degree. Finance and accounting are two popular examples, and these programmes take your previous knowledge to the next level. Typically, these programmes will include four advanced courses, research techniques, a quantitative module, and a longer dissertation. Please be wary of older extension programmes that have had a difficult time recruiting in the past and have merely converted to a conversion programme to help with recruitment without modifying their structure, since this will affect your learning experience. Finally, a professional extension programme necessitates completion of a suitable undergraduate programme, but these programmes are geared at students learning a specific set of abilities in order to get professional body exemptions. Students holding an undergraduate accounting degree, for example, can enrol in Dundee’s MSc Professional Accountancy programme and receive the maximum paper exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants upon completion (ACCA). If professional qualifications are important to you, these professional extension programmes are good since they allow you to swiftly get exemptions from papers while also earning a master’s degree that is very valuable to employers.

Reasons to pursue a business degree

The reasons you are pursuing a master’s degree in business are underlying all of this. If you desire a high-paying, thrilling, and intriguing job with the possibility of travelling across the world, make sure the programme has a lot to offer in terms of employability. Internships, links to the university’s careers office, distinguished lectures from business practitioners, opportunities to work with a centre for entrepreneurship and innovation, and a curriculum that is not just theory but also focuses on the applied and practical side of business should all be included in the programme.

There are several reasons why so many Indian students chose the United Kingdom for their university education, including language, parallels in educational systems between India and the United Kingdom, and a long history of Indian students pursuing higher education in the United Kingdom. The UK visa process is particularly friendly to international students, who may now stay in the country for two years after graduation, allowing them plenty of time to find work and gain valuable experience. Make certain that your programme matches all of the career goals you’ve set for yourself.

A technological modification in the processing of a student visa application to the US database recently deterred candidates who had their student visa application refused at least once from reapplying in the same year. While having your student visa application denied is frustrating, it is not the end of the journey. You can take actions to boost your chances of getting a student visa to the United States in the next round of applications, or you can choose an alternative study abroad destination.

If your application for a student visa to the United States is denied, there are five actions you may take.

Student visa application to the United States: 5 actions to consider if you’ve been refused Learn why your application was turned down. Understanding where you went wrong with your student visa application and working on those areas might be beneficial.

These are some of the most typical causes for an F-1 student visa being denied, according to reports:

  • Proof of sufficient money to support the student’s education is insufficient.
  • The English language requirements do not meet the academic criteria for studying in a native English-speaking environment.
  • There aren’t enough documents, either because they’re missing or because they’re damaged.
  • During the interview, you acted badly.
  • A background check that failed (due to history, same/duplicate names, and other factors)
  • Unsatisfactory reasons for picking a specific course or university
  • During the interview, there was a lack of preparation.
  • Reasons outside the control of the student, such as a large number of applications Request a waiver.

Applicants who have had their US student visa application denied will be informed of the laws in which they failed to meet the requirements. The consular office informs visa applicants if they are eligible to request for a waiver of their ineligibility. It is possible to access some of the most typical grounds for visa ineligibility.

Reapply

It’s time to reapply for an F-1 student visa once you’ve examined and addressed your weak areas. Students can reapply as many times as they like, but it is vital that you learn from your prior mistakes (if any) before doing so. It’s important noting that repeated rejections have happened in the past, so it’s not as rare as you would assume. Alternatively, you might explore for alternatives elsewhere.

If you believe that reapplying for a student visa in the United States is no longer a realistic option, it may be time to choose another study abroad destination. Countries including Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand provide a multitude of study abroad options.

Examine the course, institution, visa, and possible scholarship criteria to make your goal of studying abroad a reality.

Alternatively, you can study locally.

If there are decent possibilities for you back home, you might want to explore attending a local university, depending on where you’re from. It’s not the same as studying abroad, but there’s no harm in putting your study abroad plans on hold for the time being. After all, you may always change your mind about your master’s or PhD plans.

Studying abroad is an invaluable method to enrich and expand your academic degree. Whether your objective is to supplement your academic work, explore a new area of study, have a spectacular experience, or all of the above, studying abroad is unquestionably a life-changing investment with long-term returns. I use the term “investment” deliberately since studying abroad isn’t inexpensive. Financial obligations may be a significant roadblock in the way of studying abroad, and without proper preparation, the price tag may prevent your goal from becoming a reality.

Instead of being discouraged by your financial difficulties, see abroad education as a chance to grow and ‘be creative’ with your financial management and juggling skills. Read on to find out how to stretch your pound or dollar further; here are six travel tricks to help you study abroad on a shoestring budget.

  1. Bring a mess kit with you.

Bringing your own Tupperware with you to a restaurant for supper or lunch will enable you to preserve leftovers and enjoy them as a later meal, increasing the average meal from one to two. Furthermore, if you go exploring, you can use your Tupperware as a receptacle for a packed lunch, avoiding the inflated prices of that golden cafe at the end of the trail). Having your own plastic container, fork, knife, and spoon may help you avoid the exorbitant expenses of dining out whenever possible.

  1. Going away over the weekend? Make a reservation for a night bus or flight.

Take advantage of every chance to save money by combining travel and lodging expenditures. You may seem unkempt when you arrive at your location, but your pocketbook will appreciate you for being thrifty.

  1. Bring a water bottle with you.

Reduce your plastic use and save money on pricey bottled water to help the environment and free up some cash in your pocket. There’s so much to like.

  1. Always, always, ask for a student discount

Whether you haven’t forgotten your university ID card, ask everywhere you go if they can trim a few dollars/kuai/euros/yen/etc. off the admission or sales price. Student discounts may be available in cafés, restaurants, museums, clothing shops, and other establishments; however, you never know unless you ask.

  1. Learn all there is to do for free in your new city.

Learn about free events in your new home, in addition to reduced admission prices for students. On certain days of the week, certain museums will provide free entrance. You may be able to get free chocolate factory tours or free late-afternoon admission to a historic park. Your best option for uncovering these cheap hidden jewels in your new location is to do some research online and ask the locals.

  1. Watch out for the costly beer.

Yes, you read it correctly. Your wallet is whimpering in fear while you’re daydreaming about long evenings spent at the pub or local watering hole. Now, pay attention to what I’m saying. I’m not suggesting you don’t drink at all, but you should keep your nights out and overall alcohol consumption to a minimum. After all, don’t you want to remember all the pleasure you had with your money?

You’ve submitted your applications, been accepted to your preferred university, and have begun to make plans for life after graduation. But before you can start having fun, you’ll need to carry your worldly belongings over land and water to ensure you have everything you need to feel at ease. You claim it’s simple? Well, you could be in for a pleasant surprise packing blunders can be both pricey and inconvenient, so don’t be alarmed. We’ve discovered five typical packing blunders that almost everyone does. So have a look, and please try to avoid these typical packing blunders.

  1. Exceeding the Maximum Allowable Weight

Some of you may scoff, but overpacking is so easy to do, especially if you’re in a hurry or a tad eager, yet overweight luggage on foreign flights may really break the bank! Allow enough time to pack carefully, and spend a few minutes to figure out what you’ll truly need (clothing, books, sports equipment, etc.). Don’t be tempted to stuff everything in ‘just in case.’ Finally, weigh your case before leaving the house to ensure it does not over the weight restriction. The simplest method is to use a set of bathroom scales. Checked baggage has a weight limit of 50 pounds.

  1. Inefficient Space Utilization

There’s no need to fold everything with origami accuracy, but when it comes to packing your bag, it’s worth taking extra precautions. Remember that your luggage will be tossed around and handled a lot, so pack carefully to ensure that your belongings are safe. In case of leaks, keep any liquids or toiletries in a waterproof container or plastic bag, and cushion the outside with softer things. Instead of folding your clothing, try rolling them to reduce wrinkles and provide more room in your case so you don’t overfill it and risk it exploding.

  1. Prohibited Items

If you don’t want to spend your first few hours in the nation with local customs officers, look up the list of restricted or forbidden products for the country you’re visiting. Weapons, meat products, plants, alcohol, and uncommon animal products can all be troublesome, so be sure you have the proper papers if you’re transporting significant amounts of medication. It’s also worth remembering that liquids are limited to 100mL or less unless they’re medicine with accompanying documentation.

  1. Packing Items That Aren’t Necessary

Unless you’re studying on top of a mountain in a lonely and desolate location, you’ll almost certainly be able to access the essentials no matter where you are. You’re squandering vital space if you try to cram in enough hair product to last the whole year. Excess luggage costs are not justified for toiletries, books, or music, which may all be purchased locally or digitally. If you have a lot of emotional objects that you can’t throw away but can’t afford to take with you, look for an inexpensive storage solution or leave them with a relative to keep safe.

  1. Failure to Plan Ahead

You’ll want to shower/sleep and check in/register as soon as you reach at your location, without having to unpack anything. With this in mind, pack everything you’ll need in the first 24 hours into one box or case so you can get settled in straight away when you arrive.

Tuition-free and world-class education may appear in university marketing brochures as buzzwords. That is, however, what you can expect if you seek higher education in Germany. There are over 400 higher education institutions in the nation, and depending on which one you attend, you may pay little to no tuition, resulting in significant savings for students. Aside from low-cost education, the country is home to some of the world’s best colleges. This comprises Technical Institution of Munich, Germany’s top university, which is placed 25th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 RWTH Aachen University and Technical University of Berlin, on the other hand, are Germany’s second and third best universities.

But which towns in Germany are the finest for students? Here are a few recommendations:

Berlin

Berlin is perhaps the finest city in Germany for foreigners, with a famous rave culture, some of the cheapest and tastiest food in Western Europe, and a firm dedication to multiculturalism. Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin are among the universities in Berlin that offer English courses.

In the QS Best Student Cities 2019 rankings, the city is rated fifth. Its popularity as an international study destination stems in part from the increased availability of English-language courses, notably at the postgraduate level. This is in addition to its good standard of life, low expenses, liberal culture, and vibrant party and music scene, according to QS.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt is well-known as one of Germany’s financial centres, but there’s more to this bustling town than meets the eye. The city’s flavour is enhanced by a feast of culture and stunning scenery. Coffee shops, the boyhood home of writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and skyscrapers may all be found around the city. Goethe University Frankfurt and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management are two of Frankfurt’s universities.

Munich

In the QS Best Student Cities 2019 rankings, Munich rose two spots to fourth place. The city’s affordability, ease of getting around, nightlife, and friendliness appeal to students. Munich also ranks among the top in the world for desirability, a metric that considers a variety of factors to determine quality of life.

Munich also has a high ranking for affordability, as undergraduate students at public universities in the majority of Germany, regardless of nationality, are not paid tuition fees. The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Technische Universität München are two of the city’s universities.
